We LOVE our Havanese pup, Toby!!! He is such a well behaved and affectionate dog—he is absolutely everything we were hoping for when we decided to add a Havanese to our family. He gets along well with our other (very large) dog, as well as our outside barn cats. We have been taking obedience classes since he was quite young, and have discovered him to be very easily trained. We are currently working towards taking the AKA Canine Good Citizen Test in order for Toby to work as a therapy dog. He is doing very well, and we hope to be working with children by next summer. Not only is Toby an awesome dog, but Cassandra was a great breeder to work with. She was accommodating and flexible when arranging times to come and visit the puppies, and gave us time to play with them in order to get to know their personalities before choosing the one that we wanted to take home. Hi Cassie, I just wanted to give you a update on Chloe (Angle). She is doing really well. She is such a good girl. She goes right to the pee-pad every time, its amazing. She is so smart. Her and Rocky are get along just fine. When she runs and plays he want to play to, but doesn't realize he is ten times bigger than her. She isn't afraid of him but knows that he is the boss. Years ago we decided that once our kids were 8 and 10 it would be a good time for our family to have a dog. We researched and asked other dog owners about breeds they thought would be a good fit for a family dog. Our main criteria centered on a breed that is terrific with people, non shedding, hypo allergenic, healthy, likes to be held, playful and intelligent. The Havanese breed quickly moved to the top breed on our list after our research and hearing how delighted other owners were with this breed.

Selection of the breeder was next. We wanted to buy from a local breeder and decided on Cassandra who is the owner of RiverHill Havanese. Cassandra's knowledge of the Havanese breed, skilled dedication to the breeding process and matter of fact dealings with us were highly appreciated. We feel that we selected the best breed for our family from the best local breeder for our needs.

Bringing a dog into our life was no small decision. We actually waited four years until the timing was best. We wanted this to be a shared family experience so waiting until our kids were old enough to help feed, groom and walk the dog was important. Involving the kids in the entire process was wonderful. After visiting with Cassandra, spending time with a newly delivered litter of her puppies and experiencing her deep interest and care for the breed, breeding process and the time she invested in answering all of our questions, we felt we were able to make a confident decision to reserve a dog from a future litter. The process of waiting for the birth of this litter and the planning our family did made the entire experience more fulfilling. Cassandra would email photos of the litter often during the nine week period before we came to pick up our new puppy.

Another outstanding piece of advice Cassandra made to us is that "the dog will pick you." It is easy to get caught up in selecting a dog you think you want....but it is critical that you LET THE DOG PICK YOU. There were three dogs to pick from, but it was so obvious that our dog, Blaze, picked us. Within 60 seconds he had jumped into all of our laps and seemed quite interested in us. Thank you Cassandra for making this point so clear as we consider it a key point in the successful fit for Blaze and our family.

We are delighted with our Havanese from RiverHill Havanese and are thankful this experience has been successful on so many levels.

Korben is our first Havens bred by Casandra Reasor, Riverhill Havanese. My husband and I have been in Bearded Collies for 17 years and when the Havanese hit the AKC circuit I looked at many and talked to many breeders. I then had the opportunity to baby sit one of my Beardie pups who’s companion was a Havanese named Rigby. I was amazed at the stamina and energy and how well Rigs did with my Beardies. He could keep up with them on the run, play and interact like it was no big deal. I wondered if all Havanese carried these attributes. Before I knew it all my Beardie friends were buying Havanese as their second breed, except me, I still didn’t have one. Cassie called me about Korben. My husband still reluctant made the trip to Minnesota to pick Korben up. I can’t tell you how delighted we’ve been…………he’s a tough little dog, dedicated, funny and a member of our family. He’s been a joy to show and loves attention. Korben is a little ham and we are so grateful to own a Riverhills’s Havanese. I had no preference except for great temperament and excellent structure and we got all of that and then some. XTC Bearded Collies and one Great Havanese

I had decided several years ago that I would like a Havanese, when I finally made the decision to get one, Riverhill Kennel was highly recommended. I am so happy with my Secret, she is everything I could hope for, Cassie has been great, when ever I have a question, and all of her dogs are very healthy, which is very important in this breed. Secret is a Champion, but most of all she is my best friend. I would definitely get another Havanese from Riverhill Kennel.
